Andy has been dancing since 1981 and began calling in 1986. He says that he continues to dance and call because dancing brings people together in ways that few other activities do and creates much needed joy and community in the world. He calls dances that are fun and interesting for experienced dancers and beginners alike, and is known for his well-planned, good-humored, and succinct teaching and his clear calling. The result is that, even with challenging dances, dancers of all levels can spend more time dancing and less time learning dances.
An itinerant dance caller, Andy regularly calls all over the San Francisco Bay Area and well beyond. His regular territory extends south as far as Monterey/Pacific Grove and north as far as Nevada City, California. He has called to good reviews on his travels around the US, and has been a featured caller at the Bay Area Country Dance Society's No Snow Ball, the Foothills Country Dancers' Fall Has Sprung dance, and the Stanford University BigDance.
Andy frequently calls dances for private parties, including wedding receptions, birthday parties, and other occasions where people want an easy, sociable activity for their guests. No prior dance experience is necessary to enjoy these dances. Andy also provides audio amplification services for dances, parties, and similar events.
